Bluets 3 For $11.99 Description

Bluets, Houstonia Caerulea, is a Blue Perennial Wildflower

Bluets, perennial blue wildflowers, commonly find their homes in shady woodlands. These flowers grow in thick clumps ranging from four to sixteen inches in height. The color of these flowers can vary from white, pink, blue, dark blue, or purple. Bluets grow best in slightly shaded areas. Its hardy growing zone depends on the flower but typically lies within zones four to eight.

Bluets, Houstonia Caerulea, are a Striking Blooming Ground Cover

These flowers bloom during the spring but can still flower through summer and fall. Easily transferable: These wildflowers grow in large groups and, at times, can cover entire landscapes. So if you live in an area where these flowers grow, you can easily snag them for your garden. And if you don’t, remember they are still excellent for lining garden stones or accompanying other perennial plants in the garden.

Striking: Though they are small and used as a ground cover or accompanying other plants, Bluets are beautiful on their own. Sporting pretty blue/pink/white/or purple petals, you may value them more than some of your more abundant, more expensive plants.

This perennial also goes by the name Quaker ladies. Why? You may wonder. Their shape is identical to hats worn by women of the Quaker faith. These flowers are a charming addition to your garden. The species is native to the eastern United States as far as Florida and Texas. Also, the flowers are found in New England during the spring. The tiny flowers of the bluets are four-parted and have a shade of pink or white with yellow centers. The flowers self-seed and are always in plenty. The bloom period is from April to July, and may grow up to 8 inches tall. To do well, grow them among grasses of lawns and fields.

Also, they grow in rock gardens. The flowers do well in moist soils with partial shade, avoiding the scorching sun. The soil should be organic and slightly acidic. The flowers tend to bloom correctly during spring but can also flower through fall and summer. For a beautiful scenic view, plant the seed at a shallow depth. Usually, they grow through the first year and flower in the second. Typically, the wind and birds disperse the seeds.
