Green Mountain Boxwood

Green Mountain Boxwood
Buxus Green Moutain Boxwood
The species of Boxwood (Latin: Buxus 'Green Mountain) enjoys tremendous popularity with American gardeners. Professional landscapers and hobby gardeners adore its handsome evergreen appearance, easy-care nature, and ability to use in multiple landscape applications.
This species thrives in USDA plant hardiness zones four through nine and prefers a partially shady or part sunny spot in the yard. It loves soil well-amended with woody content and moisture without standing water. Other than that, care for this plant is minimal. It's also drought-tolerant, deer-resistant, and rabbit-resistant--giving you even more reasons to love it!
Green Mountain Boxwood Is Perfect for Topiary
Green Mountain boxwood shrubs are perfect for use in crafting topiary. Topiary artists from ancient Asia, especially in Japan, mastered the art of pruning living plants into well-defined shapes. Over hundreds of years of experimenting with various species, they concluded that the boxwood evergreen was the ideal medium.
That's because even the most vigorous trimming does not affect the plant's health. While other species drop leaves, droop, or become sluggish after the pruning, the Green Mountain boxwood does not seem to mind it.
Buxus 'Green Mountain' Looks Lovely in Your Landscape
Even if you're not a topiary artist, this shrub will present well in any partially shady part of your yard. It averages a top height of about five feet--a very manageable size for a foundation planting, to add definition to your property line, as a short hedge, or to dress up around a patio.
The leaves are shiny, dark emerald, and provide intense color, even during the cold months of winter.
