It will thrive in USDA planting zones 3 to 7 in the full sunshine.
Sawgrass grows in dense stands along the edges of ponds, lakes, and rivers. It is an effective groundcover that can aid the decompaction of the heavy wet soil; thus, it assists in preventing soil runoff.

Cladium Mariscus is also a highly productive, self-seeding species that produces many seed heads in the late summer.
The name "Sawgrass" comes from the sharp, serrated edges of the leaves, which resemble the teeth of a saw. This plant also has lovely, tall spikes like ( Reedgrass )of creamy-white flowers, which bloom in the late summer and early fall, adding even more fantastic color to this already striking plant.
