Black Willow Tree
Black Willow Tree
Whether you call it the black willow tree or silky willow, Salixnigrathis species is part of an enormous family of deciduous shrubs and trees. The black willow tree will thrive in USDA plant hardiness zones 2 through 8. Like many of its cousins within the willow family, the black willow tree does beautifully in fertile, heavy-moisture soil, such as you would find marshes, ponds, bogs, on river banks, and across flood plains.
Wholesale Nursery strongly suggests the black willow tree for customers with stubborn cases of erosion caused by flooding or rapid waters. The black willow tree's vigorous roots help to retain the soil in these harshest environments.
The black willow tree does not need much attention after planting. However, strategic location selection is a must. This species loves basking in the sun, or at least the partial sun. Furthermore, the site must have a lot of moisture, and it does not mind heavy clay or mud.
Whether you have a natural spring, creek, or water garden on your property, the black willow tree will work wonderfully for you.
The Lovely, Organic Appearance of the Black Willow Tree
The name of the black willow tree refers to its deep, rich, brown bark--it is so deep a tone that it appears black from a distance.
The bark of the black willow tree creates a rough and scaly texture with noticeable grooves as it grows. Its branches and stems are long and slim, with a bit of “give” or slack. The crown of this species is lush, rounded, attractive, and gently rounded. The black willow tree can grow to a tall mature height of one hundred feet; however, most grow to somewhere between sixty to eighty feet.
