Creeping Mint

Creeping Mint is also known as Meechania Cordata in the scientific world. They are also more commonly called Meehan’s Mint. This vine is native to the eastern part of the United States. They will thrive best in hardy planting zones 5-8. This plant will add lots of color and life to all gardens and can also be grown in containers. Creeping Mint will grow best in areas that have partial and full shade. This plant will be gorgeous when used as a ground cover. It will have vines that will trail along the ground. It will bloom in the late spring months and will provide lots of color and life.

This perennial will grow to be 6 to 10 inches tall and can be 12 to 15 inches wide. The blooms will be a beautiful blue color and will have spots on the inside. This plant does not take a lot of maintenance once it has been established. It is best to plant them in a soil that is rich and has a moderate amount of moisture. The soil should also be well drained. This plant can even thrive in full sun, but the ground will need to be kept evenly moist. This low growing vine is also great for the fact that there is not any disease typically associated with it. It may, however, be more prone to slugs. These would look great as either groundcover for shade gardens, woodland gardens, or used as a border for shady areas.
