Fern Moss Description

 Fern Moss

Fern moss is hardy and easy to grow. It is an incredibly thick breed of moss characterized by leaflike stalks that look like tiny fern fronds. This plant is perfect if you need an evergreen ground cover to liven up your walkways, rocks, driveways, and even patios. It may also be known as Hypnum, which means feather. This moss species can quickly cover an area, doubling in size in under a year. The reason why it’s called ground fern moss is that it grows small leafy plants that look similar to ferns. They are low maintenance and hardy fern. In times of drought, the most you will have to look after this moss is a small sprinkling of water. While it grows best in shaded areas, it can survive and thrive in sunny conditions.

Fern Moss,  Thuidium Delicatulum is Incredibly Thick and Perfect Choice for an Evergreen Ground Cover

This particular moss is soft and thick. This moss is dense, smooth, and velvety to the touch. A big plus of growing this plant is its ability to grow on about anything: Stones, logs, metal, etc. And it’s easily transferable after it matures, of course. It has a very high transplant success rate. It will also accentuate your other plants. As this moss grows and develops, the bright green texture will make your other flowers pop out; Drawing attention to all your hard work out in the garden. While it is not the fastest-growing plant around, it will all be worth it when you see your walkways lined with soft, green moss. This moss is also an excellent choice for a moss lawn. One can expect very little lawn maintenance if used as an alternative to a traditional grass yard since it should not need mowing.
