Maidenhair Fern 2 For $11.99 Description

Maidenhair Fern, Adiantum is a Gorgeous Indoor and Outdoor Fern

A North American native, this gorgeous fern is excellent for indoor and outdoor planting, and the graceful fronds are dazzling in bouquets. Like most ferns, the maidenhair fern is a low-maintenance plant that is well-adapted to shade, but it will do wonderfully in sunnier spots as long as it is kept moist. With a spread of approximately 2 feet high and 2 feet wide, it's easy to tuck into any space that needs a pop of color. This fern can spread via rhizomes beneath the soil, making it an excellent choice for naturalizing. When planting outdoors, look for a slightly sheltered spot with plenty of moisture. Shady borders, rock gardens, or areas near water features are all excellent choices. With a bit of protection from frost, this fern is hardy in zones 3-9. Best of all, this pretty small plant is deer resistant.

Maidenhair ferns, Adiantum Prefer Soil that Stays Moist at all Times

Indoors prefer soil that stays moist (not wet) at all times, excellent air circulation, and a somewhat sunny spot in the house. This fern does exceptionally well in self-watering pots or on top of a pebble tray with a bit of water to keep the soil moist. Maidenhair Fern is also called Adiantum Pedatum. Hardy planting zones are 3-8; The growth rate is up to 3 feet per year. Maidenhair Ferns are leafy and do not produce a flower. This fern is a slow grower. Maidenhair Fern can spread along the ground and can grow in many zones. They prefer part sun to full shade and need constant moisture. It can only grow up to 2 feet tall but can pack a lot of colors. This fern can be grown outside or inside in a hanging basket. The fronds are delicate and need to be planted near a building or become sheltered not to get wind damaged. They can grow in planters or pots. This plant can add a lot of color to your home or porch.

These are the hardest ferns, and they are easy to care for. Their thin, delicate leaflets may be single or double. In spring, rhizomes send up new fronds that unfurl into a graceful fan shape, topping out 2 feet tall. The fronds will begin to droop if the plant's water needs are not met, so keep an eye on them. You can cut off brown or yellowing fronds without damaging the plant. This fern reduces carbon monoxide, formaldehyde, and other airborne toxins, thus purifying indoor air quality. This indoor plant also helps reduce stress levels by releasing oxygen into the air that we breathe. Eliminating airborne contaminants can help improve respiratory problems such as asthma, hay fever, and eczema. It makes it ideal for bedrooms, bathrooms, and even living rooms, where it can purify the dry air naturally by removing toxins. It's perfect for rooms where you spend long periods, such as offices and studies.
