Nannyberry Live Stakes Description

Nannyberry Live Stakes, Viburnum Lentago is a Self Pollinating, Edible Berry Producing Shrub

The other names this shrub goes by are Nannyberry Viburnum, Sheepberry, and Sweet viburnum. Nannyberry is a flowering shrub that can grow to a small tree of 10 to 15 feet or a large shrub of over 8 feet. The width of the bush can be 10 to 20 feet wide and is delicious. This bush is a shrub native to certain parts of the United States and seasonally loses its leaves. The shrub grows well in zones 2 through 8. It has dark brownish-black bark and leaves with long oval shapes growing on opposite sides of the stem.

The leaves, slightly toothed with wavy edges and glossy green with a lighter underside, change to a reddish-purple in the fall. The shrub gets small flowers, about 4 1/4 inches, with flat-topped domed clusters of creamy white. The shrub reaches a berry-type fruit that begins yellow, turns red, and will be a blue or black color when mature. This shrub is an excellent plant for adding color to your lawn. This shrub will also add value to your home. This bush is also helpful as a background plant. It is an excellent plant that can be planted as an edging so that you can make something stand out and pop! You will love the color it will add to your yard.

Nannyberry Live Stakes, Viburnum Lentago Like Sun to Shade Areas and Can be Used as a Border or for a Landscaping Centerpiece

The bush is self-pollinating, and the fruit is edible raw or processed into a jelly or jam and said to have some health benefits. The Nannyberry Shrub likes the sun to shade areas, but the shrub will grow larger in openly sunny regions. The bush likes sand, loam, or clay soil with a pH level of 6-7:5 and loves well-drained soil that is moist to dry. They are shrubs that can be used as a border or landscaping centerpiece. The size should be considered before planting.
