Phlox Paniculata will definitely make a statement in any garden it is planted

The hardy perennial Phlox paniculata (Garden Phlox) grows from two to four feet tall and from one to two feet wide. Native to zones 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8, Garden Phlox sports clusters of sweet-scented flowers in late spring or early summer. Flowers bloom in shades of white, pink, coral, lavender, red, or violet, and some cultivars also feature a darker-colored eye or variegated leaves. Garden Phlox prefers fertile, moist soil in partial or full shade and spreads easily from self-seeding. Self-seeded Garden Phlox may not grow true to the original cultivar and tends to revert to an active wild purple form. The scent of Garden Phlox is especially noticeable at night, which makes Phlox paniculata a popular addition to night gardens.

The blossoms of Phlox paniculata make lovely cut flowers because of their long-stemmed shape, and they also attract hummingbirds to the garden.

Phlox paniculata is the scientific name of the hardy perennial plant commonly called Tall Phlox, or Garden Phlox. It's been a must-have plant for the summer garden for many years. Phlox Paniculata showy flowers come in white, pinks, purples, reds and orange, along with some varieties that have bi-colored petals. Deliciously scented Garden Phlox is a flower garden favorite that blooms in July and August. A beautiful cut flower that butterflies and hummingbirds love. It grows well in full sun and well-drained soil and tolerates drought once established. It's hardy in zones 4-8. Depending on the named variety the plants reach 24-48 inches tall and will develop a lovely thick clump up to 2-feet wide in about three years. There are many varieties of Phlox paniculata in cultivation, and once you've grown one or two different types the urge to collect them will be hard to resist.
