This delicate deciduous fern is prized for its lacy foliage and striking, deep black stems. A North American native, this gorgeous fern is great for both indoor and outdoor planting, and the lacy fronds are dazzling in bouquets.

Like most ferns, the maidenhair fern is a low-maintenance plant that is well-adapted to shade, but it will do wonderfully in sunnier spots as long as it is kept moist. With a spread of approximately 2 feet high and 2 feet wide, it’s easy to tuck into any space that needs a pop of color. This fern can spread via rhizomes beneath the soil, making it an excellent choice for naturalizing.
