Poke Plant is a North American native species, specifically to the east coast and across the midwestern states.
Many ecologists use this fast-growing species to help restore the soil's quality after a fire, flood, or other natural disaster. It self-seeds and reproduces fast. The taproot can be up to 12" long and 4" wide, further assisting with erosion prevention.
Home gardeners with large properties primarily choose it to add color to natural areas, help stop wind gusts, and feed local birds.
