Doll Eyes
This unusual plant is native to almost all woodlands that have moist soil. Doll Eyes(Actaea pachypoda) is aptly named for the clusters of small berries produced by the plant. White berries with one black dot in the center appear on the wildflower in mid-summer. These berries look very much like the eyes of a doll.
Also known as Baneberry, Doll Eyes are easy to grow and will reach a mature size of close to three feet tall. Hardy in growing zones 3-8. Plant seeds in spring, and water plants only during times of drought.
Daisies
Easy-care perennial, Daisies(Argyranthemum frutescens)are a well-recognized flower and are often the first flower drawn by children and used by young adults to decide if ‘he loves me or loves me not.’
Daisies are easy to grow - scratch the top of the soil in a sunny location and sow the seeds. The plant will return year after year and produce open-faced blooms that attract a wide range of pollinators.
Wildflowers are hardy in growing zones 4-8, come in a wide range of bloom colors, and will reach a mature height of two feet
Daffodils
With hundreds of hybrid species to select from, a daffodil(Narcissus)is ideal for your landscape. Considered a wildflower because of its ability to naturalize, daffodils will thrive without any maintenance.
Plant bulbs in fall, pointy side up, in a sunny location with well-draining soil. After that, they relax and enjoy their annual return.
Hardy in growing zones 3-8, daffodils will reach a mature height of around one foot. The plant also produces long, arching leaves that will provide textural interest to the landscape after the blooms have dropped. The leaves provide energy for the flower bulb and should be left intact.
