Purple Violets 10 For $16.99 Description

Purple Violets, Viola Sororia, is a Small Hardy Plants best Grown in Zones 4-8

Purple violet falls into the annual category, but in deciduous forests, they live as perennials. Violets are commonly used in wooded areas and rock gardens. The violet is a small, hardy plant frequently mixed with other plants to add a burst of color. They are known to grow best in zones 2 – 10 and are the hardest in these areas.

These perennials are popular for plant owners who enjoy picking their flowers and bringing them indoors. These purple perennials are extremely popular in floral arrangements, and they are effortless to grow from seed but hold up well if purchased as young plants.

Hundreds of varieties exist in the violet family; some are more well-known than others. The most popular types include:

- Johnny Jump-Ups – small velvet blooms that are purple with a yellow vein center.

- Dooryard Violet - small bluish-violet flowers with a reddish hue, sometimes varying into light red color.

- California Sweet Violet – the lavender-blue flowers this plant displays perfectly accent the dark green leaves of this plant.

- Sweet Violet – This plant has dark, deep violet-colored blooms. It grows incredibly compact and can vary in color from purple, yellow, red, blue, and white.

Purple Violets, Viola Sororia, are Best Thriving in Container Gardening

The soil has to be rich in composted organic matter. It is recommended that violets be planted in fertilizer that is considered the slow release to avoid intense bursts of firm soil. As with any violet, the compost should be water-soluble and thrive best in a container instead of directly in the ground. The beautiful blooms of the purple perennial do not like extreme or prolonged heat. They are not drought tolerant and should be watered regularly.

These perennials are quickly becoming one of the most popular household plants for obvious reasons. This flower symbolizes loyalty and truth while representing modesty, humility, and wisdom—no wonder they named a movie after it.

These plants are herbaceous perennial plants associated with the Violaceae plant family. Among these families is the Blue Violet with heart-shaped zigzagged leaves and flowers with five petals, and Dooryard Violets with heart-shaped leaves and reddish-violet flowers. These packed, low-growing plants bloom several periods a year and are obtainable in many leaves and colors.

They are typically found in Canada, the eastern United States, and Mexico. Their natural habitats are rich, moist woods and swampy areas. Like their cousins (Blue Violets), they bloom in spring between April and June. And can be found primarily in the forest because they are in the habit of breeding with other closely related species.

These perennials can be grown by planting their seeds. The seeds can be sprinkled lightly over the soil's surface and covered. If planted in a tray, they should be watered nicely, shielded, and set at a pleasant room temperature. This process, however, often takes much time and work compared to purchasing the nursery.

You can treat the soil they are planted carefully with rotted manure, compost, chopped leaves, or other organic manure. Along with a healthy watering system that doesn't allow the soil to get soggy, it helps enhance the quality of the ground. Fertilizing the plant with slow-release fertilizers and water-soluble fertilizers also help grow.

They thrive better during spring when there is enough sunlight but should not be exposed to temperatures above 80 degrees Fahrenheit. When exposed to temperatures above 80 degrees for long periods, they bloom slower and eventually start to die. So it is always best to provide a shade of production for the plant during the hot afternoon hours or plant them underneath trees.

Dead or spent blossoms of the plant should be removed by pinching off flowers at the base of the stems once the flowers begin to wilt. This procedure does not hurt the plant but helps produce a new flush of flowers. It also allows the plant to continue flowering for as long as possible while maintaining a neat plant.

As herbaceous plants, they are used for several medical treatments. Among such treatments are inflammations, indigestions from an irregular diet, heartburns, gas, and respiratory tract conditions.

Much more than medical use is its alluring beauty. Violets are the perfect gifts for friends and families whose birthday months are February, as they are considered the February birth flower. It makes them ideal for decorating lawns and gardens.

That has got to be the real deal. Get a hold of our breathtaking Purple Violets before it runs out!
