Chinese Snowball Bush

Chinese Snowball Bush
Chinese Snowball Shrub
(Viburnum macrocephalum) is a lovely, multi-stemmed, sun-loving deciduous shrub that enjoys tremendous popularity for its glorious flowers. This shrub puts on a stunning display of enormous, snowy white flowers in the springtime, inspiring its name.
Although this shrub is a Chinese native plant species, it is well-adapted to the North American continent. However, it prefers moderately warm temperatures and grows best in USDA plant hardiness zones 6 through 9. That might sound like a limited growing area, but don't let that fool you. These three zones encompass most of the country, including some southwestern states, the Midwest, and much of the east coast.
This shrub is both handsome and hardy. It is resistant to disease, pests, deer, and drought.
The Chinese Snowball Will Enhance Your Property
When you plant a Viburnum macrocephalum, it can enhance the attractiveness of your property with little effort. The flowers are stunning, and the plant's shape is intriguing. The base of the shrub is narrow, then breaks off into multiple stems that branch out into a broad crown with an abundance of rich green leaves. This effect creates an inverted triangular or vase shape.
Your Chinese snowball could grow relatively tall, at least ten feet at maturity. However, you can cut it back without any problem. It has a forgiving nature and will bounce back from pruning pretty fast.
Because you can shape it without any issues, it's a valuable shrub to beautify many areas around your property. Use it in a lightly shaded part of a shade garden, in the back row of a garden border, or in a pollinator garden.
The Breathtaking Good Looks of Viburnum macrocephalum Flowers Are Sure to Please.
Chinese snowball flowers look pristine white and puffy, an effect that comes from multiple one-inch florets covering a bright green middle from the famous snowball shape.
Pollinator insects and hummingbirds will find your lovely flowers irresistible.
