The Thuja Green Giant is a quick-growth, fragrant, tall, evergreen tree. It grows into a tall and attractive pyramidical shape. It grows best in USDA plant hardiness zones 5 to 8 in either full sunshine or a sun-shade mix.
Besides the quick growth habit and lovely appearance, some gardeners love this plant for its robust nature. It resists many challenges, including disease, insects, deer, mold, wind, drought, heat, and frost.
The tree is also aromatic, with a soft pine fragrance.
Why the Name Green Giant Arborvitae?
This grand evergreen takes its name from its size. If you provide excellent growing conditions, this species can grow as much as four feet per year. It eventually reaches a maximum height of sixty feet, although the average is fifty feet tall.
So what are those optimal growing conditions? About an inch of water per week, well-drained soil, organic compost or earthworm castings, and an insulating layer of mulch for the winter. That's it!
The Green Giant Arborvitae is incredibly self-sufficient. Once its roots strengthen, it will need very little help, except during extended drought or to provide mulch before the snow flies.

We sell only bare root plants. We dip the roots in tera-sorb silicone gel to retain ample moisture for transit and surround with plastic. This is superior protection for plants in transit for up to 12 days.
Upon Receipt Of Your Plants
Open your plants and inspect the same day received. We offer 3 days to report any problems with your order. Bare root plants need to be planted within 2-3 days of receiving unless weather-related problems prohibit planting. Store in a cool place and keep roots moist and covered with plastic until they can be planted. Water for the first week daily after planting.
