Willow Oak Seedlings Description

Willow Oak Seedlings and Quercus Phellos are a Beautiful Shade Producer and Hardy Planting Zone 5-9

Willow Oak seedlings also are known as Quercus Phellos. Hardy planting zones are 5-9. The growth rate is up to 36 inches per season. Willow oak trees can grow to around 65 feet per year. This tree needs moist, well-drained soil to grow at its best. The canopy spread of this tree can reach over 50 feet wide. This tree can be seen growing in swampy, wet areas of bogs.

The leaves are long and slender and can flow from the top of the crown to the ground and have an elegant look. This tree can grow in zones from 5-9 throughout most of the United States except in parts of the upper northern region close to Canada, such as North Dakota and Minnesota, and makes an excellent ornamental tree or shade tree. The best time to plant the tree is in the early spring. Using an acorn to start a tree, the acorns must be kept cold and damp during winter.

Willow Oak Seedlings, Quercus Phellos is a Wildlife Attracting Acorn Producer

Many small animals such as squirrels, deer, and birds are happy to see this tree since it produces many acorns for them to eat. The tree leaves turn different colors depending on which season it is. During the summer, the leaves are light and dark green, and during the autumn, the leaves are yellow or russet red. The willow oak tree can grow from a low height of forty feet to sixty feet.

Once this tree has reached its total growth, the width of the tree can be from thirty to forty feet around. The tree grows much better if placed where the sun can shine on it entirely. The tree grows well in various soils, from acid soil, dry soil, moist soil, sandy soil, wet soil, and clay soil. The tree likes acid soil and full sun but does well in other types of soil and weather conditions.
