Silvery glade fern, also named silvery spleenwort, is native to the eastern United States and Canada, from Ontario to Nova Scotia, and eastern Asia as China, Russia, Japan, and Korea. This beautiful perennial fern becomes a great member of shady deciduous forests, slopes, and moist meadows.

The green color compound fronds of these ferns are linear to elliptical. The width of these leaves changes throughout the length of a leaf, with the broadest part being the middle. The narrow and pointed tip of compound leaves ends in a tapering manner. The alternative attachment of fifteen to twenty pairs of green leaflets on both sides of the stem shows the beautiful architecture of these leaves. The average length of fronds is twenty to forty inches, and the width is five to twelve inches.

The asymmetrical growth from the central stems of these perennial ferns creates a worthwhile sight for the sight viewers; The average height of these green perennial ferns reaches three to five feet. The growth rate of this fern is an inch per day. These ferns reach their optimum length within three to five years.

These ferns require mildly acidic to neutral soil medium for their propagation. Soil rich in humus or decaying organic matter makes these plants mature and bright green to create a lively look in your garden. Constant moisture in the soil fulfills the water requirement of these plants, and it helps them grow optimally without requiring too much maintenance from the gardeners.

These native ferns require direct sun exposure for six to eight hours a day, deep shady exposure for not more than two hours, and partial shady exposure for eight to ten hours.
