Most Loved Flowering Shrubs

Shrubs come in a multitude of shapes and sizes

Some shrubs can be the size of a small tree, while others are short and compact. These popular shrubs are favorites for various reasons, especially their great looks.

Pee Gee Hydrangeas
Pee gee hydrangeas are large shrubs that can grow as tall as 10 to 20 feet. However, they often stay under 10 feet for a more compact flowering shrub. These plants are easy to transplant, and they increase. The semi-arching branches look elegant, and there are no serious problems with diseases or pests.

The flowers bloom in the late summer and fall with large and showy blossoms

These flowers grow on stunning panicles from 6" to 8" long. Pee gee hydrangeas flowers tend to be a creamy white, but some have a light pink tinge. These are great because they bloom after many flowering shrubs have already finished their blooming season.
Forsythia Shrubs
For early spring blooming, there are forsythia shrubs. There are wide varieties of this plant, which can get from 2 to 10 feet tall. They grow fast, and very little maintenance is needed to keep them healthy and to bloom. Their bright yellow flowers come in large numbers on long, arching branches. The large flowers are showy enough to be the focal point of your garden when they're in bloom. This shrub is hardy and vigorous, and wide varieties can serve as hedges thanks to their height.
Viburnums
Viburnums are known for their enormous clusters of pale cream flowers, though there are also light pink varieties. There are wide varieties of this shrub, and some of them are semi-evergreen or even evergreen. They bloom with their impressive flower clusters from the early spring through the beginning of summer. They are tolerant of different soil types and can be grown in full sun and partial shade. Once established, viburnums don't need to be fertilized or pruned.

The flowers will bring butterflies to your garden, and the fruit it grows will bring birds and other local wildlife. They are deer-resistant

Carolina Allspice Shrub
The Carolina allspice shrub is smaller than many shrubs at a height of between 6 and 9 feet. This plant has multiple layers of visual interest, including its reddish-brown blossoms and the brown urn-shaped seed pod they grow. They can be grown in just about any amount of light, including full shade, and will grow in virtually every type of soil, including sandy. Many people adore this shrub because it has exciting shapes and colors and a scent much like strawberries and bananas.
